Blue skies and pork pies……… (Part 2)

Needless to say we awoke on Saturday morning feeling a little heavy headed and despite plans to have breakfast and be underway by 9am, this quickly became 9:30, which was shortly followed by 10.

In many ways I always find the first hour the hardest, there tends to be a sense of nervous anticipation as you contemplate what lies ahead, however usually you find a rhythm and quickly forget any such concerns.

Paul very kindly took the picture of me standing on the summit and because I have quite a large DSLR camera he very carefully placed the gourmet pork pie he had carried up the mountain on the ground while he took the shot.

When he finished he reached down only to find that his pie had disappeared without a trace, it took a few seconds of looking around before we realised what had happened.  In the 20 seconds it took to get the picture Lottie had left my side on the summit cairn, cover the 15 yards and scoffed the pie.

Lottie’s spotted something and is on the move!

Understandably Paul was upset and call me unsympathetic but was something comical in watching him wagging his finger in Lottie’s face, whilst she sat there licking her lips looking rather pleased with herself until, just as his rant was reaching a crescendo, she looked him straight in the eye and burped!

In the end we didn’t make it over to Scafell but we did manage to leave ourselves with just enough energy to make it down to the pub for a well earned pint and some grub (but no pork pies)!

Someone’s looking rather pleased with herself!
